Advancing Tanzania’s Health Workforce with Youth at the Core

The Human Resources for Health (HRH) Conference returns in 2026

In honoring the legacy of His Excellency, the Late Benjamin William Mkapa, the Benjamin William Mkapa Foundation in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania will host the National HRH Conference on 14th to 15th July 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Julius Nyerere International Convention Center, ahead of the high level Mkapa Legacy Summit on 16th July 2026.
Day 1, 14th July, will be dedicated to Youth, placing young people at the forefront of shaping the future of Tanzania’s health workforce. This special focus will amplify youth voices, innovation, and leadership in addressing both current and emerging health challenges.
As Tanzania advances toward a stronger and more resilient health system, the role of its health workforce has never been more critical. While progress has been made, gaps in human resources for health continue to impact the quality, accessibility, and equity of care across the country.
Globally, the shortage of healthcare workers remains a pressing challenge, and Tanzania continues to take deliberate steps to respond. Achieving Universal Health Coverage depends on sustained investment in skilled health professionals and inclusive approaches that actively engage the next generation. This conference creates a platform to reflect, collaborate, and drive action across all generations.
Step in, speak up, and help shape the future of healthcare in Tanzania.
